Heart disease is a disorder which affects the heart’s ability to function well. This is caused by the narrowing or the blocking of the coronary arteries that supply blood to the heart. Heart disease is also one of the deadliest diseases in the world. As a matter of fact, some people tend to get this type of disease starting from birth. This type of heart disease is what is termed as congenital heart disease.

Avoiding Heart Disease

Proper information on heart disease is vital since it may be able to save millions of lives. There are preventive measures on how to reduce the chances of getting a heart disease and these are as follows:

1. Knowing your blood pressure is one of way of avoiding heart disease because high blood pressure would often trigger heart attacks.

2. Avoid smoking. If you have been diagnosed of having a heart disease, then try to quit smoking since this will only worsen your condition.

3. Make sure also that you have yourself tested for diabetes since this will also increase your chances of getting a heart disease.

4. Try to have your cholesterol and triglyceride levels checked. Having a high level of cholesterol can cause your arteries to clog making it hard for the heart to get the proper amount of blood supply it needs to function normally. This may lead to a heart attack. The triglyceride is a form of fat that is commonly found on the blood stream. High level of triglyceride can cause heart attacks.

5. Being overweight can increase the chances of contracting a heart disease. For this reason it would be a good idea to regularly exercise and to eat a well-balanced diet to avoid getting overweight.

6. Too much stress can also cause heart disease, so try to have an outlet like for instance talking to friends and families or writing a journal can help lower down stress levels.
